Our Journey and Mission

CoStar was established in 2000 with a vision to uplift the residents of Cwmbran. Our mission is to tackle poverty, improve health and wellbeing, combat loneliness, and enhance skills and confidence. Operating from The Threepenny Bit Community Centre and the Community Hwb, we are committed to making a positive difference in our community.
With a team of 8 passionate staff members and invaluable volunteers, CoStar is driven by a commitment to community service. Our board of 7 trustees guides our efforts as we continue to expand our reach and impact. We cherish our volunteers, whose dedication is the backbone of our operations.

CoStar Cwmbran operates from two vibrant community hubs: The Threepenny Bit Community Centre and the Community Hwb in Faurwater. The Threepenny Bit, located in Greenmeadow, is a welcoming space where residents can participate in various activities, enjoy meals at our café, and relax in our community garden. The Community Hwb, situated in Fairwater Shops, serves as a central point for our food co-op, food bank, and recycling initiatives. Both sites are integral to our efforts to support and uplift the Cwmbran community.
