Community Litter Pick – Granston Square

Friday 2nd March 2018

Bookmaking Workshop

Starting Wednesday 4th January 2017 at  our Crafty Chatters Group, Wednesdays 2.00 pm

Learn how to make this beautiful crocheted blanket to the famous pattern ‘Sophie’s Garden’.  Our tutor Joanne Buckland will be leading the class step by step through the pattern and you can watch your beautiful blanket take shape week by week. Don’t worry if you are a beginner – Joanne will teach you!



The Likely Story Theatre Company

We are pleased to welcome back The Likely Story Theatre Company to the Threepenny Bit with their latest production “The Giant Who had no Heart in his Body”.  We are looking forward to an evening of fun and entertainment for all the family.

Jam Making for Beginners

Saturday 8th October, 10.00 am –  1.00 pm  Admission: £15.00

Learn to make your own jam at our beginners workshop.  Step by step instructions on how to make delicious jam. Includes a folder of basic recipes and 2 jars of jam to take home with you.

Open Day at CoStar

Saturday 20th August 2016, 11.00 am –  3.00 pm

Our annual open day was a great success!  Lots of activities, stalls and attractions were available including our annual Cake Competition – The Great CoStar Cake Off and a ‘Craft Off’ contest.

Vegetarian Day at CoStar

Wednesday 18th May 2016 at 12.30 pm

As part of National Vegetarian Week CoStar provided vegetarian feast during our normal lunch club.Thanks to a grant from the Vegetarian Society a wide range of vegetarian dishes was available for people to try.  In addition we had a display of cookery books and other information. The delicious food was soon eaten and was enjoyed by everyone

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

We were delighted to welcome the Box Tale Soup company to the Threepenny Bit for their performance of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.  The actors and puppets were superb and the children in the audience were all enchanted with the story!

BBC Arts Get Creative Weekend

CoStar is taking part in the BBC’s Get Creative Weekend.  Come along and join us at the Threepenny Bit, share your craft with others and meet new crafters and artists.  Whatever your creative talent come along and take part!

An Evening with Dror Kessler

Thursday 10th March 8.00 pm An Evening with Dror Kessler – Tickets £5.00

Acoustic Music, Story Telling, Folk Traditionals and Original Ballads.
Short Bio:
Dror Kessler is a published & performing singer-songwriter, a storyteller and a folk club organiser. Following a long tradition of folk singer songwriters, Dror’s music is lyrical and topical. It advocates social change, self sufficiency, compassion and acceptance.

Visit from Nick Thomas Symonds MP
Torfaen MP Nick Thomas-Symonds visited CoStar on 19th February.  Nick was shown around the centre by our chairman Councillor Phil Seabourne and spent time chatting with staff, volunteers and trustees about the projects and activities provided at CoStar and .  Nick was able to see our Foodshare team in action as they packed up the grocery bags for local families.
We are very grateful to Nick for taking the time to visit us and see our much needed services in action.


Birthday Celebrations for our Treasurer
85th Birthday Celebrations for our Treasurer Councillor Tom Matthews
We surprised our treasurer Tom Matthews with a special birthday cake on the occasion of his 85th birthday.  Tom is a regular attendee at our Wednesday lunch club, which was where we presented him with the cake.
Happy birthday Tom and many happy returns from all of us!
