St David's Day Celebrations at the Threepenny Bit

St David’s Day at CoStar

Celebrating St David’s day has become an annual tradition at CoStar which many of our friends love to attend – whatever their nationality!
We provide a 3 course lunch which is freshly cooked in our kitchen by staff and volunteers.  After our meal we usually have a quiz with a Welsh theme to test our diners knowledge on their homeland.  The winning team gets a prize.

Some of the ways we have commemorated the day in past years have included entertainment from local singer Jane Tracey who treated us to a rendition of “Myfanwy”, followed with the poetic “Daffydd Y Garreg Wen” (David of the White Rock), a heart felt Calon Lan and the sing a long Saucepan Fach.  We usually all join in together with Mae hen Glwlad fy nhadau to end the occasion.
We also have an excellent visual and audio presentation  to greet everyone.  The presentation put together by local photographer John Howles, showed beautiful Welsh scenery including local scenes and photos of past Welsh rugby high triumphs. The video is included at the top of this page.

St David’s Day is always a memorable day.  Seeing the enjoyment on peoples faces is the reward for all the hard work put in over the weekend by staff and volunteers, not to mention the excellent lunch we all enjoy!

Look out for more details on our next Sunday Specials which run throughout the year!
