Volunteering With CoStar

How you can get involved with CoStar

“Be Part of the CoStar Family and take the Opportunity to Make a Difference”

In Memory of Ann Davis

We are very sorry to hear the sad news about the death of one of our much loved volunteers Ann Davis.

Ann was a very popular lady at CoStar who has been volunteering with us for many years.  She is one of the founder members of the ‘Friends of the Threepenny Bit’ and helped with the Rag Rug and Patchwork Classes.  Ann is seen in the picture digging on our allotment, demonstrating that she would have a go at anything!

In recent days Ann was a regular at our Wednesday lunch club and would enjoy coming along for lunch and meeting up with her friends.

Everyone will miss Ann very much and our thoughts go out to her family at this difficult time.

We could not provide all the activities and services we run at CoStar without the help of our many volunteers.

Becoming a volunteer at CoStar is rewarding, interesting and fun.   You will make new friends and work as part of a valued team doing a variety of tasks depending on your interests and skills.  It will also give you a sense of purpose and pride!

Here are some of the tasks and activities carried out by volunteers at CoStar:

  • Paint sorting and serving customers in our RePaint Scheme
  • Preparing and cleaning up in our cookery class
  • Serving and washing up at lunch club and drop in café
  • Helping pack parcels in our food co-op
  • IT Support
  • Leading the walking groups
  • Working on the allotments
  • Supporting the bike club
  • Just being there to support and help people in a crisis

CoStar relies on lots of volunteers to continue to make a difference in people’s lives but  our volunteers find that they get as much out of the experience themselves as the people they are helping.

So if you can spare a few hours each week and would like to do something worthwhile, why not come along and join in!

If you are interested in helping out with any of our projects or have an idea of your own please contact us, either on the form on our home page or give us a call.  Alternatively just drop into the CoStar building any weekday (10am-2pm) and have a chat with us.

We hope to see you soon!
