Community RePaint Torfaen at CoStar!
Opening hours: Monday - Thursday 10.00 am till 2.00 pm
The Community RePaint project at CoStar was launched in August 2010. It is run from a converted shipping container located on the car park of our premises, The Threepenny Bit Community Hall. Since the project began we have diverted thousands of litres of paint away from landfill and have put it to good use within the community. The scheme is aimed at charities, community groups and local people who are struggling to afford the costs of decorating. Our paint is available at just £1.50 a litre which is a fantastic saving on shop prices. The project is growing in popularity as more and more people become aware of its benefits. We have had two visits from the official Dulux dog (Don) who has helped us to promote the scheme at our events! Don delighted everyone and patiently posed for photographs with visitors. If you would like to view our range of paint, come along and see what’s on offer. We have a wide selection of paint including emulsion, eggshell, floor paint, gloss and exterior. If you want something specific give us a call first to see if we can help.
Background Community RePaint is a national network of schemes overseen by a company called Resource Futures and sponsored by Dulux. If first began in the 1990s when a group of people concerned about the environmental impact of discarding unused paint began to work together to find ways of putting that paint to a good use and saving it from the waste stream. Since its launch the scheme has grown to the point where there are over 60 Community RePaint projects all over the UK. Our scheme is unique in Torfaen and one of only 6 in Wales and helps conAdvancedtribute to saving thousands of litres of paint in Britain every year.
