Community Foodshare Project - Funded by The Henry Smith Charity
We are pleased to announce that our Community Foodshare Project has received another 3 years of funding. We are grateful to the Henry Smith Charity for supporting this project which is benefiting many local people. Our weekly food co-op offers excellent value to participants at just £4.00 a week for a bag of groceries and our ‘Late Breakfast Cafe’ provides a low cost breakfast with the chance to have a chat and meet new friends.
Weekly Food Co-op
If you live in St Dials, Fairwater or Greenmeadow you could qualify to join our food co-op and receive a bag of groceries to help with the weekly food bill. Many families have felt the pinch in the last year with the recession and government cuts and have been left finding it hard to cope. Our project is designed to help take the pressure off a little.
The food comes from a number of sources but is largely supported by Fareshare, a charity which distributes unwanted food from the large supermarkets and puts it to good use in the community.
The food from Fareshare also support our late breakfast cafe and lunch club.
Breakfast – 10.30 till 12.00 pm
If you fancy a breakfast and a chat in our friendly cafe, why not pop along and have a freshly cooked full English breakfast for just £2.00. Children under 15 eat free!
The cafe is designed to help people make new friends and give people a chance to get out of the house.
We rely heavily on our volunteer supporters who assist us greatly with this project and help it to run smoothly!
The first phase of the project was funded by the People’s Health Trust. We are pleased that the project has been such a success we have been able to secure further funding from the Henry Smith Charity. The project benefits around 80 families per week and many more who attend our community cafe.
